Annual Report (2020-2021)

A heart filled with aspirations is all that we knew since the very existence of the school and that’s what gave us the ambition of marching forward till excellence is achieved in all our endeavours. This report is comprised of the achievements made during the year gone by and at the same time set the path for greater accomplishments in the years to come.
PARENTS ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
As a regular practice followed every year, this session began with the Orientation Programme for the parents of the students of classes Mont – I to XII. The programme made the parents aware of the scheme of education we impart here at our school. Query-resolving session by our respected Principal Dr. Babita Chopra illuminated the path of positive parenting.
INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENTS
1. Home Science lab was constructed last year.
2. Two wheeler parking area besides the security block was arranged for the parents to drop their children and for the staff to park their vehicles.
3. All the science labs and Math labs are furnished with modern technological devices for the practical work of the students last year.
CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM FOR TEACHERS
With the sole purpose of updating teachers’ knowledge, the school hosted a series of Teachers’ Workshops by training institutions. It was an attempt which inclusively engulfed various significant aspects like Moral Values, Life Skills , Meditation & Stress Management, English Language and Mathematics. Apart from this, our teachers are made a part of the training sessions and workshops provided by CBSE this year by online session. Our teachers attended various workshops time to time. Some of these, workshops are- on Nurturing Early Childhood and Adolescence Management and workshops on various ACADEMIC SUBJECTS. Attendee teachers further share the knowledge with other fellow teachers widening the sphere of wisdom.
DLIS DIGITALIZED PLATFORM
Keeping ourselves up with the pace of the modern world, complete Digitization of the school was undertaken which transformed the entire school chores channel through Information Technology, bringing in more transparency and enhanced communication with parents and community. Having the school completely digitized has numerous advantages to the parents, teachers and the school itself. Parents can keep a real-time track of the status of their child’s performance, Daily Attendance, Periodic Results, School Circulars and News, etc. through this digitalized process. For all the classes WhatsApp groups are there for daily homework .Besides this, students are reaping the benefits of online classes at home during this grave situation.
COMPETITIONS
To take part is what counts in competition and lessons of victory and defeat are what we get in return. This environment was sufficiently created through inter-school, inter-house and inter-class competitions such as debates, VadVivaad Pratiyogita, Shlok Competition, Quiz, Rangoli, Declamation, Creative-Writing, Spelling-Bee, Rhyme and Rhythm, Drawing and PowerPoint competitions. Our students took part in various inter-school and zonal level Competitions and brought laudable laurels to the school. Like –‘Inter Olympiad of Science and Maths’ students of classes (I to XII) won countless awards at different levels. Apart from this, ‘INTERNATIONAL Informatics Olympiad ‘Our student JEE SAHIB excelled himself by acquiring Gold Medal in State rank. In year 2019- 2020 student of class X KRISHNANSU earned 124th rank in ‘NATIONAL TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATION (NTSE-I).
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
For Overall growth of the students several CURRICULAR activities are included in their syllabus and curriculum. All the ‘INTERNATIONAL as well as National ‘ days are celebrated in the school by organizing class wise activities and events for students such as –Nurse day, Mother’s day, English language day, Women day ,Drug abuse day ,Athletic day , Labour day etc.
ACADEMICS

Our current class IX students are getting ready to face the board exams with many changes in exam pattern. With utter delight, it is postulated that, first time in the history of DIVINE Light INTERNATIONAL School, 2018- 19 batches had surmounted academically by earning district toppers to their credit in at Secondary Level. Jashanpreet Kaur Bains created astounding history by securing the First position at District level in Std. X (2018-2019) and became the star performer. Many of our students smashed the record by attaining JEE Mains seats. We feel proud that our school as well as board results have been 100% continuously for the last 3-4 years. (2019- 2020) session was excellent as board examinations gave us our shinning stars in academics .our class X student Krishnansu stood first by getting96%. Manish and Varun Dhir got second and third position by getting 92% & 89.4% respectively. Adding to it, In standard XII we have four streams (MEDICAL, NON-MEDICAL , COMMERCE , HUMANITIES. We feel proud that ‘CHERYL SINGLA STOOD FIRST WITH 96.2% MARKS IN MEDICAL STREAM ‘ ‘ PIHU STOOD FIRST WITH 94.4% MARKS IN NON MEDICAL STREAM AS WELL AS ALSO ATTAINED SEAT IN ‘JEE MAINS'. HOWEVER, RAVINDER AND HARMEET KAUR BOTH STOOD FIRST WITH 84% & 84.4% MARKS IN COMMERCE & HUMANITIES STREAM RESPECTIVELY. During this pandemic, through the online classes teachers put their extra- ordinary efforts for uplifting the moral of the students so that they could achieve excellence. We conducted Vedic maths, Anxiety exam, Pariksha pe Charcha, stress management, Child Psychology sessions. Apart from this, at this crucial time parents also extended their cooperation and support to us
TEACHERS’ ACHIEVEMENTS
Our Vice-Principal Mrs Neeru Dhir got the prestigious Global Teacher Award which is another feather in her cap; This achievement was a proud moment for all DLIS team members. She obtained ‘certificate of excellence ‘in recognition of her dedicated efforts for her contribution to education, social welfare and adolescence awareness through innovative practices.
RELIGIOUS FESTIVALS
We at DLIS always celebrate religious festivals with divine ,message and entertainment -Christmas, Lohri, Mahashivratri, Diwali, Dusshera , Baisakhi , Id - Ul- Fitar, Holi, Basaant Panchami , Raksha Bandan etc. This year during the pandemic students of all the classes participated enthusiastically with great fervour and zeal in various events and activities online. Like- diya making, rangoli making, poster making, best out of waste, kite flying, dance performance etc.
NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATIONS
The school celebrates all the National festivals like Independence Day, Republic Day, Teachers day, and Children’s day with great respect and devotion.
SPORTS HEAT
Various activities were performed by students at their home under the motto of fit India. Teachers also initiated one hour yoga session daily for two months.

In order to groom and bring out inner talent We conduct various in house competitions for students like working out, cooking Without fire, painting on different things, writing, yoga, Swimming and reading.

FIELD TRIPS
As a part of the curriculum, we had our field trips for all classes. The trip to LPU was very informative. Field trips were arranged to many historical monuments in and around Fatehgarh Sahib District. Our junior wing visitedthe Post office, Banks and fire stations. A set of students visited the coir industry, poultry and nursery farm.
GRADUATION CEREMONY
Graduation Day was celebrated on 30th March 2019 with the ‘Sow and Grow’ by Welcoming the Chief Guest. Our School Principal Dr. Babita Chopra addressed the gathering and highlighted the vision of the school and role of parents and teachers in pupils’ learning process.
ANNUAL DAY
Our Annual day was successfully celebrated with colourful events. Our Director, Prof. Ashok Sood felicitated the gathering with his wonderful speech. Towards the end, we thank the supportive management whose continuous support to our ideology of education has enabled the school to come this far. Teachers and the entire staff members also deserve applause for their tireless efforts in implementing the route map of imparting quality education here.
Parent’s representatives expressed their gratitude towards the school and the teachers in instilling humility and self esteem in their children in their varied spectrum of activities and the cultural fest followed hereafter.
In the end, we also extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents of our students who have shown unflinching faith in us by giving us an opportunity to transform their children into truly useful citizens of the future world. With that, let us foresee a world of universal singularity where our children are going to be the torch bearers of this change and the world shall be a beautiful place to live in..!!!
